A Relaxing Kona Retreat

Bears' Place Guest House is a great home-base for exploring the Big Island of Hawaii. We are centrally located on the hillside 7 miles north of downtown Kailua-Kona, at a comfortable elevation of 1,600 feet. Our quiet neighborhood is only a 10-minute drive from Kailua Town, the beautiful beaches along the Kona-Kohala Coast, and the airport (no noise). We are half a mile from the picturesque Makalei Hawaii Golf Course. Hilo is only an hour and twenty minutes away, and Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park makes a great day trip.

Our house is surrounded by nature — a beautiful garden filled with hibiscus, plumeria, palms, papayas and bananas. Wake up to birdsong and enjoy sunset views of the coastline from your lanai.

All studios have comfortable queen size beds, and one or two sleeper sofas for extra guests. The Plumeria Suite also has a separate living room and walk-in closet. Laundry facilities are available.

Anne Stockel and daughter, Nanette, have lived in Kona for over 35 years and have explored the Big Island extensively. We will be glad to help you plan your daily adventures.

We especially enjoy our European visitors, as we both speak German.

We typically respond within the hour and provide easy, self-guided check-in instructions — so you can arrive on your own schedule, stress-free.
