Bears' Place Guest House is a great home-base for exploring the Big Island of Hawaii. Centrally located 7 miles north of downtown Kailua-Kona, at a comfortable 1,600 foot elevation, we are ten minutes from the airport and town, and fifteen minutes to the beautiful beaches along the Kona - Kohala Coast. We are half a mile from the picturesque Makalei Hawaii Golf Course. Waimea is a half hour drive, and Hilo and Volcanoes National Park are a great day trip from here.
Your hosts, Anne Stockel and daughter, Nanette, offer several spacious, vacation studios. A welcome basket with coffee, tea, cocoa, tropical fruit, homemade lilikoi jelly, and baked goodies for your first breakfast awaits you upon arrival. Wake up in the morning to the sound of birds singing, and breakfast at your leisure. After a day of fun, relax on our expansive covered lanais and enjoy sunset views of the coastline.
Our suites are roomy, light and airy, and feature separate entrances, private, tiled, full baths, Wireless High Speed Internet access, cable TV, ceiling fans and kitchenettes with refrigerator /freezer, microwave, coffeemaker and toaster.
All studios have comfortable queen size pillow-top beds, and brand new sleeper-sofas for extra guests. Suites have a separate sitting area and walk-in closets. All accommodations have glass sliders opening unto spacious, covered lanais. Our Ohana Suite also has a fully equipped, tiled kitchen, livingroom and 2 full bathrooms.
Anne and Nanette have lived in Kona for 20 years and have explored this beautiful island extensively. We will be glad to help you plan your daily adventures.
We will also loan you beach chairs, towels, coolers, boogie boards, and sand toys free of charge. There is plenty of free off-street parking.
